Global Prayer Partners

February 2022

As we join Habitat for Humanity partners around the world, let our daily prayers be for a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Our fervent prayer is that everyone will feel loved and nurtured in a community of hope.

This month, please especially remember to pray for the following areas.

Asia and the Pacific

As a mother of three living in Nepal, Bheema felt for her children, who had to study in the dim light of an oil lamp. She struggled to find work and had to resort to illegal means of getting electricity for her old house, which sat on low-lying government land. With Habitat Nepal’s help, she obtained a proper land title and gained access to government-supplied electricity and water. “I want my children to study well and get the good jobs that I always dreamt of,” she says.

Pray that God will open doors for Habitat Nepal to work with more government partners in land rights advocacy to help more marginalized families like Bheema’s. Pray for continued blessings for the work of Habitat Nepal, keeping them safe as they serve the most vulnerable in local communities. May all thanks and praise be to the Lord who is able to supply far more than we can ask or imagine.

Europe, Middle East and Africa

Habitat Kenya is celebrating 40 years since its founding, having helped more than 250 communities build their way out of poverty through decent, affordable housing solutions and access to sanitation. Give thanks for God’s faithfulness and provision throughout these years and for every life transformed through the work of Habitat Kenya.

Looking forward, pray that God will guide the programs and initiatives seeking to reach even more communities in Kenya, such as financing for owner-led construction, ensuring more families have secure land tenure, and the Disaster Risk and Reduction Program that establishes water, sanitation and hygiene solutions in drought-prone areas and helps people develop sustainable disaster response interventions.

In God’s name, God’s power and God’s will.

Latin America and the Caribbean

Pray that God would hold in His hands all the collaborators, volunteers and supporters of Habitat Guatemala so that day by day their faith will be active in helping those in need.

Thank God for all the families who have been supported through the work of Habitat Guatemala in 2021 and for those who will be supported in the year ahead. Pray for resources to enable the work to continue and to be scaled up. Pray for compassion and ask that all those who engage with Habitat Guatemala will remember the call to love our neighbor. In a country where the housing deficit exceeds 1.6 million homes, including many inadequate and overcrowded homes, ask for blessing on initiatives such as Healthy Home Kits, which provide homeowners with a smokeless stove, a water filter and a sanitary latrine.

United States and Canada

As part of the celebrations marking 30 years since the first Habitat ReStore opened in Winnipeg, Canada, give thanks that there are now over 1,000 Habitat ReStores worldwide, serving their communities by providing new, used and donated home improvement materials at an affordable cost while raising vital funds for Habitat’s mission worldwide.

Ask God to bless the Habitat Canada initiative this year to divert more than 1 billion pounds of material from landfills, thus cutting its carbon footprint and having a huge environmental benefit. As Habitat ReStores continue to have an impact, pray that individual and corporate donors will see how their support is transformational. Ask that even more communities, through Habitat ReStores, will be able to access the materials they need to improve their homes while growing support for Habitat’s mission.

Worldwide

Please remember all those affected by natural disasters around the world, as well as those everywhere who are in any kind of danger or trouble. Those with the least often suffer the most after disruptive events. Pray often for them as we open ourselves to be the hands and feet of Jesus in today’s world.
