Representatives of local government units discussed advancing access to land and public funding to provide vulnerable families with affordable housing. The workshop also highlighted Habitat's Negros Occidental Impact 2025 project that aims to build 10,000 housing units using the Hilti Foundation’s Cement Frame Bamboo Technology. The pilot location for the project is in Silay City where 534 houses are being built and more will be constructed in San Carlos and other cities and municipalities across the province.

Through its
Road to Recovery 2.0 COVID-19 response, Habitat for Humanity India is supporting vulnerable communities during a deadly second wave of the pandemic. In addition to distributing family essentials kits and hygiene kits, Habitat India will work with local governments and partners to set up care centers in underused healthcare or government buildings. These facilities will be equipped with beds and oxygen concentrators, among others, to help individuals isolate and reduce the spread of COVID-19 infections.
Two new care centers, supported by MetLife, were inaugurated in Benguluru on May 26. To date, Habitat India has supported over 1.3 million individuals in its COVID-19 response.
